Thought of the Week: Yom Kippur - 5775

BELIEVE IN YOM KIPPUR

When it comes to the performance of Mitzvot we need two things; the object, and information on how to use the object. On Purim, for example, it is not enough to just have a Megilat Esther in our hands, we must know how to read it as well.

Yom Kippur is no different. The day itself is like an object. It is a very special object that can do wonders. However we are required to know how to use it as well. The Rambam teaches that "Yom Kippur does not generate atonement unless one repents and believes in the atonement the day grants.

"Among the many things we should be mindful of during this precious day, is the fact, that we were given a special day to clear our record and our conscience.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Kehilah a Gmar Chatima Tova.

Shabbat Shalom
